First we'd like to thank all who participated in the voting and all the fans who support Voltron on the web. A special to thanks goes to webmasters everywhere, especially to those who created and designed the finalists.

The final judging proved difficult and the vote was close. Basing their judgement on the content, creativity, and design of the site, the voltronforce.com staff selected what they considered the best Voltron fan site on the web.

AND THE WINNER OF THE 1999 VOLTRON FAN SITE OSCAR IS…

THE UNOFFICIAL VOLTRON FORCE HOMEPAGE,
by Dani Dewald

The favorite according to your votes was also the staff favorite. The Unofficial Voltron Force Homepage edged out the other finalists in a tight competition. We gave The Unofficial… the nod because of its spectacular design and rich content. Its clean HTML and easy navigation complemented colorful displays. Structured well and full of surprises, the site is updated regularly by the webmaster, who provides a base for the Voltron www ring and posts the Planet Arus mailing list. Hats off to The Unofficial… and its webmaster for supporting Voltron in such a dynamic and impressive way! You have emerged from a rich field of competitors and won the admiration of both Voltron fans and its producer. Congratulations, Dani, a.k.a. Arus!!

And thanks again to everyone who participated!
Dani will receive the below toy set (compliments of Trendmasters) and a nicely framed golden award certificate along with the right to use the above digital certificate on her web site to link back to www.voltronforce.com.

Shannon Muir's Voltron Pages, by Shannon Muir
Shannon, a virtual geyser of Voltron knowledge, covers every aspect of the legend in her site. Started in 1996, the site offers extensive character and story bios as well as fan fic, which she also features in a separate site. Most notable and special about …the Voltron Pages is the starmap of the Denubian Galaxy, which charts the stars and planets of Voltron. The map compiled by Shannon serves as the definitive guide to the galaxy. Congrats, Shannon!

A Princess and Her Knight, by Claire/CBear
This truly unique fan fic site features stories that provide a different take on the Voltron legend. A Princess… contains fiction that explores the relationship between the Voltron characters, looking at them personally and even romantically. A readers guide to the sequence of stories helps visitors put the stories in chronological perspective; an archive holds past stories. In the spirit of fan fic, CBear invites participation and offers links to other sites. We're very pleased that such a daring venture has received so much attention and reached our final. Great work, Cbear!

The Unofficial Voltron Force Homepage, by Dani De Wald
The Unofficial… offers the full gamut. It features info on the original Voltron as well as V3D, and the design and imaging are professional quality. Check out the site's very cool section on a prospective Voltron movie, which allows visitors to conceptualize and even cast a V-feature film. This webmaster blends a personal approach with an interactive one, making it one of the most popular fan fic sites on the web as apparent from the voting. If anyone wants lessons or just direction on site design, Dani is the one to consult. Kudos on a stellar job!

V4 - Past, Present and Future, by Mea
V4 is quite simply the online showcase of Voltron fan fiction. The webmaster invites all to a "shared universe" of fan fic writers, where context is fully provided. Based around the legend of 4 Voltron robots, the legend carries with it a timeline of major events, detailed in its own section, and an extensive character listing. Another visually stunning site, V4 also incorporates work from other fans, such as the Denubian Starmap. This spirit of inclusion runs through this site and helps enrich it. Way to go, Mea!

The Voltron Go-Lion Site, by Thomas Nongyow
Thomas' site has garnered the respect of Voltron fans everywhere and is perhaps the best-known Voltron site on the web. With its focus on Go-Lion, the basis for Voltron, the site serves as a display for the anime classic but also offers comparisons to its famous descendant. The site contains rarely seen images of Go-Lion, which, along with information, give visitors a vivid sense of Voltron's roots. Not only does the webmaster educate visitors about Go-Lion, he encourages them to join his crusade to have the original episodes re-released. His petition contains the signatures of an astounding number of Voltron fans, and it continues to grow. Excellent job, Thomas!
